Why run your darts league with a dedicated tool

In darts the result isn’t a goal or a set: it’s a score in legs, and many pub leagues play an even number of legs per fixture, so 6-6 is a draw. The “Darts” sport comes set up that way: scores in legs, draws allowed, 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and leg difference as the tiebreak. You can enter individual players, pairs or teams.

  • Automatic fixtures: Single or double round-robin league generated in one click, with nobody playing twice on the same matchday.
  • Scores in legs: Enter each fixture as 7-5 or 6-6; the standings add up legs for and against and use leg difference when teams are level on points.
  • Boards and time slots: Add your boards as venues and assign each fixture to a board and time; the tool warns you if two clash on the same board.
  • League, tournament or ladder: Besides the league, you can run a knockout, a double elimination or a challenge ladder for your venue’s permanent ranking.

How to create a darts league step by step

  1. Create a free account. Sign up in under a minute; no card required.
  2. Create the competition with the “Darts” sport. Choose the format: single or double round-robin league, league with final playoffs, knockout, double elimination or ladder. Points for a win, draw and loss (2/1/0 by default) are configurable.
  3. Add players, pairs or teams. Register the participants yourself or share a code so they sign up themselves.
  4. Generate the fixtures and assign boards. The tool creates every matchday; then give each fixture its board and start time, or leave it for later.
  5. Enter the results in legs. After each fixture, enter the score in legs. The standings update instantly on the league’s public page.

A practical example: an 8-team pub league on 4 boards

Picture a team darts league with 8 teams playing a double round robin. Each team faces the other 7 twice: that’s 14 matchdays and 56 fixtures, 4 per matchday. With 4 boards, the 4 fixtures of each matchday are played at the same time, in a single night. If each fixture is played over 12 legs, a 7-5 gives the winner 2 points and a 6-6 gives each team 1 point. At the end of the season, if two teams are level on points, leg difference decides. And for an exciting finish, the top 4 can play playoffs on the last night.

Tips for running a darts league

  • Fix the number of legs per fixture before you start: an even number allows draws; an odd one (best of 7, best of 9…) always produces a winner. Choose one and put it in writing.
  • Assign boards per matchday: publishing which fixture goes on which board avoids waiting around and arguments at the venue.
  • Use a ladder for the permanent ranking: alongside the seasonal league, a challenge ladder keeps players throwing between matchdays.
  • Share the public link, not photos: a single link with standings, results and fixtures stops every team from looking at a different version.

Common mistakes when running a darts league

  • Counting only wins: If you don’t record legs, you lose the fairest tiebreak; with scores in legs the difference is calculated for you.
  • Hand-made fixtures: It’s easy for someone to get two byes in a row or for a pairing to repeat; the generator spreads fixtures evenly.
  • Not planning for postponements: Pub leagues always have fixtures that move; reschedule without redoing the fixtures, and the standings recalculate themselves.
  • Double-booking a board: Scheduling two fixtures on the same board at the same time is a classic; the tool warns you about the clash.

League, knockout or ladder: which format for darts?

A league is the usual choice for a season at the pub or club: everyone plays everyone and the table rewards consistency. For a one-day tournament with lots of players, double elimination is the darts favourite: nobody goes out after a single bad match. And if you want something ongoing without closed seasons, a ladder lets each player challenge those above them and climb the ranking.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to create a darts league?

Yes. Creating the league, generating fixtures, entering results and sharing the standings is free and needs no card.

Can results be entered in legs?

Yes. The “Darts” sport scores in legs: you enter, say, 7-5, and the standings add up legs for, against and the difference.

Are draws allowed?

Yes. In leagues with an even number of legs a 6-6 is a draw worth 1 point to each side. By default a win is worth 2 points and a loss 0, and you can change that.

Does it work for team leagues and individual players?

Yes. You can enter individual players, pairs or teams.

Can I run a double elimination tournament?

Yes. Besides the league, you can create single knockouts, double elimination, groups followed by knockouts, or a challenge ladder.

Can I manage several boards?

Yes. Add the boards as venues and assign each fixture to a board and time; if two clash, the tool warns you.

Can players see the standings without signing up?

Yes. Every league has a public page with standings, results and fixtures that anyone with the link can view.
