A competition isn't limited to a single edition: each season is a separate cycle with its own schedule, standings, and history.
Independent Seasons
When one season ends and the next begins, the matches and standings start from scratch without losing the history of previous seasons, which can be accessed from the competition's season selector.
Only one active season
At any given time, there is only one season marked as current, which is the one used by default when accessing the competition, generating the schedule, or viewing the standings.
